Band Aids and Blood Pressures

Objectives
* Be able to describe the function, structure, and composition of blood.
* List signs, symptoms, and assessment factors relative to various shock states.
* Discuss shock assessment using capnography as an assessment tool.
* Discuss alternative in fluid resuscitation to include HBOCs.
* Discuss alternative methods to fluid resuscitation including adult IO insertion.

Topic Highlights
While many EMTs and Paramedics are fond of trauma and the "blood and gore" of the street, they don't understand some of the basic physiologic principles of bleeding and clotting that happen every minute of our lives. This presentation will cover the physiology of shock, monitoring techniques, and some of the treatment options we use to conquer bleeding and shock today.

Audience/Track
This class is for any provider level.  ALS interventions and assessment techniques will be discussed but will not overwhelm the basic provider.
