CBA, CABG, and LVAD: The New Alphabet of Cardiac Care and Technology

Objectives
* Discuss research findings related to continuous CPR.
* Discuss research findings related to ventilation.
* Discuss research findings related to TPA versus PCI effectiveness.
* Discuss a research study related to “feeding“ the myocardium during ACS events.
* Discuss other technology that allows patients with Congestive Heart Failure to continue living in the community.

Topic Highlights
Recent studies have shown us that continuous compressions and CPR may be more important than defibrillation.  This lecture will discuss some of the new science related to continuous compressions, not "over"-ventilating our patients, and GIK.  This presentation will have students re-thinking the ACLS cookbook as the ingredients of new science will have us pushing the chest first, not the defib button.

This topic can also be presented to focus on the science behind lytics versus primary PCI and the issues associated with prehospital lytics and anticoagulant therapy.

Audience/Track
This class is for any provider level.  Both ALS and BLS topics will be discussed but will be presented so that even the lay provider can follow along.
