You Make My Heart Race: Tachycardia Treatment Today

Objectives
* Review the types of different tachycardic rhythms and their causes.
* Understand the treatment of tachycardias using a six question approach.
* Understand the appropriate role of emergency and elective synchronized cardioversion in the treatment of tachycardias.
* Understand anti-arrythmic drug choices as options for the treatment of tachycardia.

Topic Highlights
ACLS algorithms, limited exposure, and diverse scenarios has confused many students for years on tachycardia and if, when, and how to treat various maladies. While questions still exist such as can I really shock a stable SVT, can I shock Atrial Fib, and what do amiodarone, lidocaine, and other drugs really do to tachycardia?  This presentation on the tachycardia algorithm simplifies a caregiver's approach to tachycardias by using a six step method to identify and treat any of the possible scenarios that today's EMS providers might face.

Audience/Track
This class is for the ALS provider and the EMS educator.
